Manitoba Forage and Grassland Association, Manitoba Beef Producers and Manitoba Beef and Forage Initiatives bring you the Manitoba Livestock Tour featuring novel and innovative ideas implemented by successful livestock operations.

This tour has been designed to showcase different ideas and strategies to help producers increase profits and manage workloads associated with today’s livestock operations. Larger herds, working off–farm, value added or diversification of enterprises have required innovative thinking. Take this opportunity to learn from other producers by adapting new concepts to suit your own operation. Topics to be discussed:

  • Day 1

    • annuals for grazing

    • winter corn grazing

    • innovation in forage establishment

    • feeding and calving strategies for large herds

    • value added through organic production

  • Day 2

    • using calving cameras without electricity

    • weather station data

    • consumer trends in beef consumption

    • tour of assembly yards

    • feedlot tour

    • creep feeding to extend your pasture

    • using beef cattle to compliment another farm enterprise

For this “Tailgate Tour” bring your own vehicle and follow from one tour stop to the next. Start the tour with full tank of fuel. Please wear clean footwear and outerwear to respect our co-operators bio -security. All producers will need to register in advance so that we can plan for catering requirements and adhere to tour participant limits at some venues.

Come spend a day or two with like -minded beef producers who have successfully expanded within Manitoba!

Registration $30.00 per person per day. Includes lunch, refreshments, and all reference materials. Payment will be made “at the door” but PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED
